If the HOLD function is on, slide the HOLD switch in the opposite direction of the arrow to unlock the controls. [. . . ] Press TV, FM or AM to select the desired band. Press TUNING + or – to tune in to the desired station. If you keep pressing TUNING+/– for a few seconds, the Walkman will start tuning to the stations automatically.

To improve broadcast reception
For FM, extend the headphones/ earphones cord (antenna) or adjust ST/FM MONO. Note
If the broadcast becomes noisy when a cassette with a metallic shell or label is inserted, remove the cassette.

Insert a cassette and set NORM•CrO2/METAL to match the tape type. Adjust the volume with VOLUME.

Follow the procedure above and in step 3, instead of tuning in to a station, press and hold TUNING + or – until "– – – –" is flashing. Press PRESET + or – repeatedly to select the preset number you want to cancel and press ENTER.
